Big Tree Plant – Funding and Grants

This is a £4m funding scheme which supports community groups to plant trees in towns, cities and residential areas throughout England. The funding is for community and non-profit organisations to establish community-led tree planting projects in areas that would benefit most.

The Tree Council – Community Trees

The Tree Council was founded in 1974, with government backing, as the umbrella body for UK organisations involved in tree planting, care and conservation. The Community Trees Fund, part of the Tree Futures grant programme, is open to community groups.

Landfill Communities Fund

The Landfill Communities Fund is an innovative tax credit scheme enabling operators of landfill sites to contribute money to organisations enrolled with ENTRUST as Environmental Bodies.

There are two methods of receiving funding:

  • from an organisation that distributes the monies on a landfill operator’s behalf; or
  • directly from a Landfill Operator.

European Commission green infrastructure web portal

Incorporates the key EU adopted Commiunication on GI (May 2013), many useful links such as BISE (Biodiversity Information System for Europe) and MAES (Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services), and some important messages. The EU has committed substantial funds to support GI initiatives and wishes to see these embedded in programmes including water, agriculture, forestry, regional cohesion and spatial planning.
